Neuro-Psychiatrist To FG, Provide Job Opportunity To End Mental Health Challenge In Nigeria

To put an abrupt end to mental health challenges among Nigerians, especially the youths, the Federal government must see the need to provide job opportunity in the country.

The Deputy Director, Nursing Education at the  Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Aro Abeokuta, Mrs Taiwo Christianah OMINRIN made the insistence while speaking to Journalists on Wednesday during an orientation programme organised to enlighten the public on mental health care.

The Medical expert who decried the high rate of suicide in different parts of the nation mentioned mental disorderliness as one of the major causes of the heart- quacking incident. 

Chrirstianah, explained that some people don't  care about their mental health but only care about the physical health.

Some of these physical health challenges, she said are hypertension, diabetes, malaria and typhoid, describing them as signals attached to mental problem.

When asked what are the signs of mental health challenge, she stressed "When someone is seeing, hearing or saying what doesn't exist in actual stimilous is a sign of mental problem and must urgently take a positive step to consult for the people in charge of psychology."

She added "Heartbreak in a relationship, unemployment for the youths, loneliness, hatred, barrenness can also cause mentally disorder."

Chrirstianah also hinted that people could support the government by taking preventive measure, this she said would help wipes the ugly incident from the scenes.  

She urged members of the public to quickly report at the psychiatric hospital if they notice or spot anyone with mental health challenge.
