The newly elected Agura of Gbagura, Saburee Bakre has on Monday received his appointment letter from Ogun state government.
The presentation of the letter to the Oba-elect took place at the office of the Chairman, Abeokuta North local government area of the state by officials from the ministry of local government and chieftaincy affairs.
The appointment empowers the Oba-elect to be a permanent member of Ogun state council of Obas and a member of Egba traditional council.
The letter which was signed by the Director, Chieftaincy affairs, Adesoji Adewunmi on behalf of the permanent secretary of the ministry of local government and chieftaincy affairs read thus:
“I have the greatest pleasure to inform kabiyesi tgat section 23(1) of the chiefs law of Ogun state of Nigeria, 2006, the executive council of Ogun state has approved your appointment as the new agura of gbagura in Abeokuta north local government area with effect from Monday 6th of may 2019.
“I am to convey to kabiyesi, on behalf of the state government, hearty congratulations on this appointment and wish kabiyesi good health, long life and many years of peaceful and prosperous reign.
“By this appointment, you have become a permanent member of Ogun state council of Obas and a member of Egba traditional council.
“A legal notice of this appointment will be published in the Ogun state government gazette in due course.”
Prince Saburee Babajide Bakre will become the 9th Agura of Gbagura after Oba Dr. Halidu Adedayo Olaloko MFR, JP, Sobekun II, who reigned from 18th October 1980 to July 12, 2018.
