Ogun city centre to be powered by independent power project


Ogun State Government has assured that the City Centre, upon completion will be powered by the State’s Independent Power Project (IPP), to ensure consistent power supply and encourage trading activities within the centre.

The State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, gave this assurance during inspection tour with investors to the city centre in Abeokuta, saying, government would continue to create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive in the State.

He thanked the people of the State for standing by his administration in the last seven and half years, while appreciating the investors for believing in his administration, he noted that, with government supplying electricity to the centre, the cost of rentals at the mall would be reduced.

Also speaking, the Promoter of Shoprite, Mr. Tayo Amusan said the vision was to create a city within a city, where people could gather from all over West Africa for business and tourism, appreciating the present administration for keying into the idea.

He said the city centre, when completed would further boost the socio-economic development of the State, adding that, no fewer than 4000 people would have been employed dire,ctly or indirectly through the on-going construction.

In his remark, the lead contractor, Mr. Ibikunle Sonola revealed that, the project has reached 60 percent completion, assuring that the project would be fully completed by December 2019.
